Introduction to 

Cross Country Season 2010

Cross Country starts on Saturday 24^th April 2010.
Existing and New members are welcome to join at anytime!!!!

Cross Country is great for the kid's fitness and is a relaxed environment for both the kids and the parents. Keilor Little Athletics would love to see even more Keilor kids competing each week this coming Cross Country season than we have had in previous years.

The cross country season runs during autumn / winter and we compete on a weekly basis against our Northern Metro "Division 1" friends from Essendon, Sunbury, Coburg, Craigieburn, Fawkner and Hume as well as in the Regional and State Cross Country Championships.

Regular Competition
Regular Cross Country competition is weekly, normally held at Essendon, Coburg, Sunbury or here at Keilor, on Saturday mornings starting at 9.00 and is all over in about 2 hours. The season starts Saturday 24th April and runs through until the 1^st week of August. This year Keilor LAC will host 3 days from home base - Keilor Park Athletics Track. Our courses will be outside the track, on adjacent parkland.

Costs

There is no extra cost for children currently registered for Little Aths, apart from $1 a week to fund trophies etc. There is an $35 registration fee per athlete for those wanting to join for the first time.

Essendon Moonee Valley Athletics Track, Corio St, Essendon. Melway 28 D5
Coburg Harold Stevens Athletics Field, Outlook Rd, Coburg. Melway 18 A10)

Keilor Keilor Park Athletics Track, Stadium Drive, Keilor Park.

Sunbury Jackson St Reserve, Cnr Jackson and Shields Sts Sunbury. Melways 382 E6.

* Under 7s will start the season running 800m and progressively move up to 1000m a few weeks prior to regional championships.

Race Distances

500 metres for the U6's

*800m/1000m for the U7's

1 km for the U8's

1.5 Kms for the U 9's and 10's

2 km for the U 11's and 12's; and

3 Km for the U 13’s plus kids.

Once again the emphasis is just as much on achieving PB's and it's amazing to see the difference in the results from the start to the end of the season as the kids get fitter, more used to the tracks and runs.
