Alexandra "Chucky" Bulic

2011 Commonwealth Youth Games - Isle of Man

7 - 13 September 2011

 400m Semi Final - 4th & 7th Fastest Overall

Former KLAC athlete Alexandra "Chucky" Bulic makes her international debut at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth  Games being held at the Isle of Man between 7-13 September 2011. 71 countries will be taking part at the Games in a number of sports, including track and field.

The very popular Chucky, 16, will represent Australia in the 400m event at the Games following her win at that event at the Australian Junior Championships in March 2011.

Chucky is a very talented all round athlete who has a long list of achievements including Australian multi event and 400m champion and holder of the Victorian  Little Athletics U15 800m record.

Chucky worked extremely hard during the winter months to ensure she is in the best possible condition to do her best at the Games.

Chucky had a great 400m heat and progressed to the Semi-final where she finished 4th. Her semi-final time meant that she was 7th fastest overall and would normally progress to a 8 athlete final. For some reason however only 6 athletes were progressed to the final.

Hernan Espindola Takes on the WORLD

2011 Football World U17 Championships

Australian U17 "Joeys" Player

Keilor athlete Hernan Espindola has been selected in the Australian under 17 soccer team (the 'Joeys') for the Football World U17 Championships being held in Mexico during June 2011.

In fact news has reached us that Hernan was in the starting 11 for the Joey's first match against the Ivory Coast and we are pleased to announce that Australia won 2:1. Hernan was involved in a passage of play that resulted in the Joeys equalising at the 51 minute mark. You can see Hernan in action at the championships HERE

Hernan and fellow Keilor athlete Chris Cristaldo have been part of the AIS U17 squad for almost two years and both made the national training squad of 40 before Hernan being selected in the final team of 24 players for the championships. An awesome effort by both young men and Chris will no doubt get his chance as he still has another year at the U17 level!

The boys selection at this level does not surprise as they are both "jets" when it comes to running. Both Hernan and CC (as he is well known) share multiple relay records and centre, region, state and national level. In 2009/10 Hernan and CC were members of the under 15 KLAC team which set a new national (electronic-timed) 4 x 100 metre relay record in the State Championships at Olympic Park. Perhaps of even more significance was the fact that those State Relay Championships were actually held during an AIS soccer camp in Canberra - Hernan left the camp and flew down to Melbourne specifically to compete in the State Relay Championships that year.

and there's more:

CC holds the our Centre's U12 200m and U13 400m records. Whilst Hernan still holds the KLAC under 13 70 metres, 100 metres and 200 metre records and is a multiple medallist for KLAC in both individual and relay events at the State Championships. In 2007/08 Hernan was a member of the Victorian team which won the under 13 ALAC National Championships.

Hernan and CC are proud Junior Life members of Keilor LAC and have already committed to returning to the Centre during the track & field season to talk to the athletes about soccer and how Little Aths has helped them achieve their Dream.
